Meet The Team - Steve Rosella

At BCW Design & Manufacture, we’re proud to have built a team of talented and dedicated individuals, over the last few days, we’ve been introducing the talented individuals behind our success. Rounding off our sales team is Steve Rosella our Proposal Manager.

What inspired you to get into manufacturing?

After leaving school I went to college to study Engineering Manufacturing, since leaving college when I was 18, I’ve always been in manufacturing, started with manufacturing fireplaces, moving onto subcontract manufacturing within the laser cutting and fabrication industry where I did an apprenticeship and HNC and now to BCW.

What's been the most rewarding project you’ve worked on so far at BCW?

I’ve only been at BCW a short amount of time, but I’d probably say the Boat Cradle, working on this from RFQ (request for quote) stage and being involved in the manufacture was fun to be involved in.

How did you get started in your current role?

I was contacted by a recruiter, since I joined BCW my role has evolved since joining from Project Engineering Manager to Proposals Manager. As Proposal Manager, you are responsible for managing and coordinating the end-to-end quoting process for customers, ensuring that all proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with BCW’s capabilities and strategic goals. You work closely with cross-functional teams including the projects team, engineering, operations and procurement to gather technical information, costings, and lead times required to build comprehensive quotations.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone new to the manufacturing industry?

To start with an apprenticeship, learn from the more experienced people around you, take pride in your work and enjoy each day.

Are you more on the technical or operational side, or a mix of both?

I’ve come from shop floor, to estimating, to Sales Manager to Project Management so I have an excellent understanding of all things commercial along with sound technical knowledge, but I’m still learning every day.

What’s one challenge you’re currently facing in your role at BCW?

With a new role there are always new challenges, for me it’s to have a greater understanding of the Defence and Aerospace industries and improve my understanding of CNC machining.

Is there a specific area of manufacturing (automation, supply chain, quality, etc.) you’re passionate about?

I’m passionate about winning orders and seeing a job evolve from an RFQ into full manufacture.
