Meet Jose: 12 Years of Passion, Precision and Progress at BCW

As part of our spotlight on the Projects Team here at BCW Design & Manufacture, we’re pleased to introduce Jose, who joined the business over a decade ago and has grown through multiple technical roles before landing in Project Management.

From supporting high profile aerospace programmes to driving process improvements across the factory floor, José brings deep experience and passion to every challenge. In this interview, he shares what keeps him motivated, how he ensures quality, and why aerospace continues to be his favourite sector.

How long have you been at BCW and what does your journey look like?

I joined BCW 12 years ago as an engineer, initially in the B7 division supporting both the aerospace and automotive sectors. I later moved into offline programming and took on several different roles before transitioning into Project Management.

Can you explain your experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment?

Managing projects is about creating a strong link between sales and manufacturing driving progress through different stages while monitoring every step to reach the end goal.

What is your favourite project that you have worked on and why?

One of my favourites was a flying parts project for the aerospace sector (formerly Fokker), due to the high technical specifications involved. It was a great challenge.

What inspired you to get into manufacturing?

My inspiration came from my family. My grandfather, father and uncles were all engineers it’s in my blood.

How do you ensure quality control and regulatory compliance in a project?

Quality is key to everything we do. We closely monitor all aspects of the process to ensure compliance and maintain high standards in our manufactured products.

What project management tools and techniques do you use to monitor and control progress?

I use Microsoft Project to monitor and record milestones for each individual project. It allows for accurate tracking and clear visibility across stages.

What’s one challenge you’re currently facing in your role at BCW?

Challenges are part of continuous improvement. Personally, one of the biggest challenges is ensuring that I provide the production team with the most accurate and timely information possible.

What manufacturing methods are used to ensure precision, durability, and efficiency?

I believe that applying lessons learned from previous projects can significantly improve efficiency and precision in new ones.

What is your favourite sector and why?

Design and aerospace are my favourite sectors. I enjoy the innovation and complexity they bring.

What’s something that interests you outside of work?

I enjoy walking and spending time with my family.

What have you accomplished lately that you're proud of?

I’m proud to have contributed to the Airbus landing gear project. It was a significant achievement.

What is your highest goal for your career?

To stay focused on advancing and adopting new manufacturing techniques.
